Ware County Receives “Road to Readiness” Award

Recently, Ware County was honored with a "Road to Readiness" Award at the State Workforce Investment Board meeting at Stone Mountain.  Altogether, seventy-four Georgia counties were involved in the Work Ready project. Ware County was one of eleven counties chosen to receive the “Road to Readiness” award which recognizes those counties that have exceeded goals and standards of expectation set by the board.  Linda Zechmann, local Work Ready Team Leader, attended the meeting and received the award on behalf of Ware County.Ware Work Ready Receives Award

Following the event in Atlanta, Zechmann met with Okefenokee Technical College staff members who are directly involved in the project to recognize their contributions to the early success of Work Ready Ware. As of March, Ware County had issued 492 Work Ready certificates.

“This project has been an absolute team effort,” stated Zechmann. She applauded her staff, OTC President Gail Thaxton, and Okefenokee Technical College staff for their part in the Work Ready Ware project. “Thank you for giving your very best for the benefit of Ware County.” Zechmann noted that several of the Work Ready staff were not able to attend, including Gina Egenlauf, Shannon Stewart, and Frankie Royer.

Zechmann is known across Georgia for her enthusiasm, energy, and initiative with Work Ready Ware. Her leadership and hard work for this community through the Certified Work Ready program is indisputable. For more information about Work Ready Ware, call 287-4096.
