Davis Is WSL Scholarship Recipient at OTC

Amanda Morris (right), representing the Waycross Service League (WSL),  recently presented a scholarship check to Leslie Davis, who is the 2007 recipient of an OTC scholarship made possible by the members of the Waycross Service League, a service organization for women. According to Cindy Tanner (left), the WSL has funded over twenty-four scholarships since 2001 through the OTC Foundation to help deserving young women reach their educational goals. “Okefenokee Technical College staff and students appreciate the hard work and generosity of the WSL members, stated Tanner.”

Mrs. Davis is in the cosmetology program and plans to pursue a life-long career in this profession. She is a resident of Pierce County and attended Pierce County schools. Cindy Tanner, Leslie Davis, Amanda Morris

“I selected Okefenokee Technical College because it has what I was looking for in post-secondary education,” states Davis. “I was happy that the program I selected takes one year to complete. I was also thrilled that some of my high school core classes transferred to OTC, and I did not have to repeat them. I am very pleased with my choice in colleges.”

Davis plans to use her scholarship money to purchase extra cosmetology supplies and to help offset other program related expenses, such as the licensing fee and uniforms.
