OTC Foundation Golf Tournament Winners Announced

The Okefenokee Technical College Foundation “Tee It Up For Tools” Toolbox Scholarship Golf Tournament was held November 6 at the Okefenokee Country Club.  The foundation trustees appreciate the tremendous support from the community for the event. With 23 teams, 91 players, and 39 sponsors, the tournament was a huge success.  A priority of the OTC Foundation is to provide scholarships for students attending the college.

Proceeds from the event will fund 2010 “toolbox scholarships,” which help deserving students get the financial assistance they need for tuition, program supplies, and other “tools” required for their program.

Gross winners were Bennett Insurance Agency - 1st Place Gross; Jay’s IGA of Alma - 2nd Place Gross; The Gators (Strat Theologus, Phil Suess, Wayne Bashlor, & Bryant Wiggins) - 3rd Place Gross.

Net winners were National Cap & Sportswear - 1st Place Net; Southeastern Business Machines - 2nd Place Net; Superior Pine Products Company - 3rd Place Net.

Closest to the Pin winners were Ellis McNeal on Hole 17 and John Graham on Hole 4.   Most Accurate Drive on Hole 12 went to Robby Thomas, and the winner of the Longest Drive was Adam Thomas.

Jay’s IGA of Alma was responsible for the delicious BBQ lunch before play, and Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Waycross provided beverages for players and volunteers. Light Vending Company provided snacks and water, while National Cap donated caps to participants.

Unfortunately, no one “skilled up” to win the 2010 black Toyota Tundra or any of the other “sweet” hole-in-one prizes sponsored by Walker Jones.

A special thanks to the following sponsors or donors:

Gold - Satilla Regional Medical Center and Dr. A. W. & Rosemary Strickland
