The radiologic technology students at Okefenokee Technical College celebrated national Radiologic Technology week on November 2-8 at several area hospitals.  The students designed and made presentation boards that were displayed at Satilla Regional Medical Center and Coffee Regional Medical Center. The boards gave patients, visitors, and hospital staff information about radiography and other modalities within the profession.

As part of the festivities for the week, OTC radiologic technology students were allowed to wear specially designed radiology t-shirts with their scrubs in honor of the discovery of x-rays on November 8, 1895.  Students and staff at the clinical sites enjoyed donuts and food provided by hospital administration and external healthcare agencies.

National Radiologic Technology Week is celebrated annually to recognize the vitalRadiology Display Board work of radiologic technologists across the nation. Each year members of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) choose a theme to shape the week. This year’s theme, “Every Picture Tells A Story,” reflects the significance of the images created by an R.T. OTC radiologic technology students are members of the ASRT, an organization whose mission is to foster the professional growth of radiologic technologists. OTC radiologic technology instructors are Donna Yeomans and Brent Clemmer.
