OTC Students Excel at PBL Competition

Congratulations to Okefenokee Technical College Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) members for their performance at the South District Conference regional competition. Seven students participated in the event held February 18, 2011, in Dublin, Georgia, according to OTC club advisors Marcia Braddock, Jason Strickland, and Christine Leclerc-Sherling.

 “Once again OTC students made us proud during the PBL district competition.” stated Braddock. “We brought home ten awards, including four for 1st place.” 

OTC students demonstrated superb computer knowledge and skills, taking six awards. Bill Hand placed 1st in Cyber Security and 1st in Network Concepts. Jared Griffin placed 1st in Computer Concepts and 4th in Network Concepts. Caleb Manic placed 2nd in Computer Concepts and 5th in Network Concepts.

In other competitions, Antonio Rahming took 1st place in Justice Administration, Monica Williams placed 5th in Public Speaking, Jacqueline Wallace earned 4th in Sales Presentation, and Courtney Butler won 4th in Job Interview.

According to Braddock, the event tests participants’ business knowledge and skills and prepares them for state competition, which will be held April 7-10 in Atlanta. Phi Beta Lambda is a postsecondary student organization that provides programs designed to foster the development of business leadership skills.
