OTC Phi Beta Lambda Chapter Sponsors Bingo Night

The Okefenokee Technical College chapter of Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) sponsored Bingo Night at Baptist Village earlier this year, igniting friendly competition and fun for participants and PBL members.  The event took place in the activities room from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Prior to play, PBL members purchased chocolate and other sweets and prepared small prize bags with a mix of sugar and sugar free treats.

During the game, the students and PBL advisor, Jason Strickland, enjoyed laughs and small talk with residents. “It was as much fun, or more, for us as it was for them,” stated Strickland. “The resident players proved to be avid fans of bingo, and took the competition quite seriously! They played in a rapid fire style that was much faster than we had imagined. We nearly exhausted our supply of prepared bags after the second round and had to send a runner back to campus to bring additional supplies so we could distribute prizes to all the winners.”

After the game, PBL volunteers assisted with clean-up and escorted residents back to their rooms. Strickland added, “The residents welcomed us warmly and invited us back.  We had so much fun that we would like to do it again and will try to plan another Bingo Night sometime after the conclusion of our summer competition schedule.”

PBL members who participated were LeAnna Thornton, Simon Cason, Samuel Knight, Maribeth Ramsay, and David Ramsay.
