OTC Welcomes New Brantley GED Instructor, Stephen McQuaig

Okefenokee Technical College (OTC) welcomes Stephen McQuaig to the Brantley County Adult Education program as the new GED instructor. Mr. McQuaig is a Ware County native, a Navy veteran with eight years of service, and a graduate of Valdosta State University.  In his office, Mr. McQuaig proudly posts his certificate of completion for his GED earned in June of 2000.

“I dropped out of high school and had a lot of negative feedback from my social network, even family and friends, but I didn’t let the incident stop me,” states Mr. McQuaig.  “It is NEVER too late to get your GED and reach for higher education.”

After receiving his GED certificate, McQuaig immediately joined the United States Navy, served 8 years, and received an honorable discharge in 2008.  The Navy veteran then earned his Bachelor of Art degree at Valdosta State University and taught high school for one year in Kentucky before taking a position with Okefenokee Technical College as GED instructor.

The Brantley County Adult Education Building is located at 470 Bryan Street, Suite B, in Nahunta, right next door to the Brantley County DFACS office. Mr. McQuaig, along with Ms. Carol Sciscilo, are happy to assist anyone seeking a GED or literacy skills. Interested persons may enroll in free GED prep courses which are offered Monday through Thursday.

“We can be reached at 912-462-7923,” stated McQuaig. “Stop by and let us help you achieve your career goals.  The first step is always the hardest, but I promise you, you can do it!”
