Legislators

Dr. Gail Thaxton and the Okefenokee Technical College administrative staff hosted local delegates and college board chairs recently to extend appreciation to them for their support and to bring them up to date on programs, facility projects, and the needs of the college and its state-affiliated agency – the Department of Technical And Adult Education. Dr. Thaxton thanked Representative Mark Hatfield for his help with securing the funds for the two upcoming building projects for OTC, and she said that she looks forward to working with both representatives to move technical education forward in the new year.

After the short meeting, Representatives Hatfield and Williams toured Building 200 and the welding lab. Staff members took this opportunity to describe the specific needs of the college. OTC Board of Directors Chair Ola Smith and OTC Foundation Chair Larry Paulk were among those in attendance for the meeting. Dr. Thaxton commended both Smith and Paulk for their support and leadership this past year.
