NEW GED Test Scholarships Available

The GED Testing Service in Atlanta recently received a monetary gift that will be used as a scholarship fund to pay the GED test fee for qualified candidates who live in counties in rural Georgia, including Bacon, Brantley, Charlton, Clinch, Pierce and Ware.

“Offering eligible candidates the opportunity to take the GED Test at no cost will remove a potential barrier for some very deserving GED candidates,” said Kim Lee, Director of GED Testing and Program Administration at the Georgia’s Department of Technical and Adult Education. “In adult literacy, increased accessibility yields greater opportunity for Georgians as well as increased public access to the various programs that the department offers.”

Residents in Bacon, Brantley, Charlton, Clinch, Pierce, and Ware Counties who never completed high school and who are interested in applying for the GED Scholarship must meet the following requirements: The candidate must take the Adult Education admission test and accrue a minimum of 12 hours in Adult Education classes, take the GED practice test and achieve an average score of 500, and must take all five parts of the GED test within a 60 day period.
