Dr. Glenn Deibert Named OTC Interim President

Dr. Glenn Deibert was recently selected by Commissioner Ron Jackson of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) as the interim president of Okefenokee Technical College and began his new position April 2, 2012. Deibert is coming to South Georgia from Montgomery, Alabama, where he served as Executive Vice Chancellor of the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education.

“I look forward to working with the Okefenokee Technical College family during this transition as we continue to focus on quality and look for new opportunities for exceptional programs and services,” said Deibert. “The college has an outstanding reputation. As an interim, I plan to be actively involved in the community and on campus.”

Previously, Deibert served as President of two Georgia technical colleges:  Southwest Georgia Technical College in Thomasville, Georgia and Swainsboro Technical College in Swainsboro, Georgia.  During the past 18 years, he has also served as a drafting instructor, Academic Dean, and Vice President for Academic Affairs, demonstrating his knowledge and vast experience of the post-secondary education system.

He holds a Drafting and Design Technology Diploma from Southwest Georgia Technical College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the University of Georgia where he graduated magna cum laude, a Master of Education Degree in Occupational Studies from the University of Georgia, and Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

As an active leader in his community, Dr. Deibert has been involved with many civic and community organizations such as Rotary International, Kiwanis International, National Exchange Club, local area Chamber of Commerce, Regional Educational Service Area Board, and the Georgia Youth Science Technology Board.  In addition, he has volunteered for non-profit organizations such as Hands On Thomas County, Thomasville Humane Society, and Thomas County Family Connection.

During his 18 year tenure with the Technical College System of Georgia and his two years with the Alabama Community College System, he strongly supported student activities including serving as an advisor for numerous student organizations such as the National Technical Honor Society, Skills USA, and Student Council.

Okefenokee Technical College faculty and staff welcome Dr. Deibert and his wife, Deanna, to South Georgia.
