Dr. Bonnie Davis Recognized for Distinguished Service to OTC

Dr. Bonnie Davis of Charlton County was recently recognized for distinguished service to Okefenokee Technical College (OTC). During the June Board of Directors’ meeting, Dr. Glenn Deibert (left), OTC interim president, thanked Dr. Davis for her service to the college. Dr. Davis served on the Board of Directors for three consecutive terms, from July 2003 until June 2012, the maximum number of years allowed according to Board Bylaws.

Following remarks by OTC staff, Dr. Deibert presented Dr. Davis with a distinguished service award from the Technical College System of Georgia and TCSG Commissioner, Ron Jackson. Davis also received a beautiful rosewood piano-finish Airflyte clock from the OTC faculty and staff. Dr.  Deibert thanked Davis for her investment over the years of time and gifts in support of technical education.

Cindy Tanner, with the OTC public relations and advancement offices, shared with those present some of the many ways Dr. Davis supported OTC over the years:  (1) She worked diligently with Andy Brannen and the OTC Economic Development staff to provide educational programs and services to the citizens of Charlton County and to those incarcerated at D. Ray James Prison; (2) She and her husband, Marion Davis, contributed to higher education through numerous gifts to the OTC Foundation and Foundation fundraisers; (3) She was, and continues to be, an enthusiastic advocate for the college, encouraging others to enroll at OTC; and (4) She completed workshops and activities offered by the Technical College Directors’ Association in order to earn board certification.

Dr. Davis, Programs Manager for The Geo Group, extended best wishes to the college and promised to continue her support.
