OTC Child Care Center Students Visit SRMC

Children visit SRMCThe three and four-year old children from the Okefenokee Technical Center Child Care Center were the guests of Satilla Regional Medical Center for a tour on Tuesday, March 7. Prior to touring, the children had completed a unit of study on the hospital under the direction of Tammy Pinchback, the lead teacher for the class.

On behalf of Satilla Regional Hospital, the children were greeted by Toni Nelson, who welcomed the group and let each child select a doctor’s hat or a nurse’s hat to wear for the tour.

Cheryl Monroe showed the children the nursery; Marci Johnson welcomed the children to the Heart Center and passed around a model of the heart for the children to see and touch. Ricky Dial explained the radiology department by showing the children some x-rays.

The children saw the pad where the helicopter lands, were given a treat in the gift shop, and finally enjoyed a delicious lunch provided for them by the SRMC dietary staff.

Parent chaperones for the group were Clay Thomas and Timothy Davis. Others who assisted were floater teacher Jameschia Bennett and Magen Byrd, an intern from the Early Childhood and Education program.Nurse Marci Johnson with children
