Henderson will use her award check toward her state board exam fees and was especially grateful to the Pike family, her instructors, and the OTC faculty and staff for helping her meet her career goals.

In her scholarship application, Henderson wrote, “I would not have chosen another college to receive my education because of the reputation of OTC. I have heard nothing but positive things, right down to parking availability.”

Henderson’s parents are Donald and Kathy Lee. Mrs. Lee graduated from the OTC Medical Lab program in 2003, and Henderson’s father is in law enforcement. Wendy has two children, Marcy and Caleb.

The Brooksie A. Pike Scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. John Pike and other family members to pay tribute to Mrs. Brooksie Pike, who had a forty-year career in cosmetology. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be full-time cosmetology students entering their final quarter at Okefenokee Technical College with a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average and excellent quarterly work ethics grades.

Two Brooksie A. Pike Scholarships are awarded each year to outstanding cosmetology students at Okefenokee Tech. The OTC Foundation would like to congratulate Wendy Henderson and thank Dr. John Pike and Penny Pike for establishing the scholarship fund.
