Okefenokee Technical College is seeking an instructor to teach a dual-enrollment Health Occupations program. The program curriculum will consist of specific courses contained in the Certified Nurse Assisting technical certificate of credit. The program will be taught on-campus at Charlton County High School in Folkston, Georgia beginning in August 2006.
POSITION:
C.N.A. Health Occupations Instructor
SALARY:
Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package. This is a full-time 10-month position.
DUTIES:
The Health Occupations Instructor will teach courses leading to the Certified Nurse Assist (CNA) technical certificate of credit. Instructor will be responsible for the following: developing program syllabi, goals, and objectives; evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives; requesting and maintaining supplies and equipment; preparing budget requests; maintaining program certification requirements, as appropriate; preparing and maintaining all documents and administrative reports; attending staff development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences; ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the training area; meeting with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues; assisting with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
EDUCATION:
Registered nurse currently licensed in Georgia. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. Individual must have completed courses comparable with the curriculum being taught and have experience/expertise in the area of the curriculum being taught.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCES:
At least three years of full-time, paid work experience within the past seven years in business, industry, or occupational education. Individual must have had experience in the long-term care setting. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, customer service skills, and an in-depth understanding and experience with computers. Teaching experience is preferred.
CREDENTIALS:
Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned. Individual must have or attain the Train-the-Trainer certification through the Georgia Medical Care Foundation.
