The number 1 priority of Georgia’s employers is to improve the work ethics of present and future employees. Business and industry leaders have identified essential work ethics that should be taught and practiced in order to develop a viable and effective workforce. You will be evaluated and graded on the following ten work ethics traits: attendance, character, teamwork, appearance, attitude, productivity, organizational skills, communication, cooperation, and respect.
In order to better prepare you for the workplace, you will be working work ethics skills. This can be as important to getting the job and keeping it as competence. A moderately competent employee who has a positive attitude, who works well with others, and shows up to work will almost always be chosen over someone else who does not possess these qualities.
Business and industry leaders have identified essential work ethics that should be taught and practiced in order to develop a viable and effective workforce. The ten work ethics traits identified are stated below.
Attendance - Attends class, arrives/leaves on time; notifies instructor in advance of planned absences; makes up assignments punctually.
Character - Displays loyalty, honesty, trustworthiness, dependability, reliability, initiative, self-discipline, and self-responsibility.
Teamwork - Respects rights of others; is a team worker, is cooperative; is assertive; displays a customer service attitude; seeks opportunities for continuous learning; displays mannerly behavior.
Appearance - Displays appropriate dress, grooming, hygiene, and etiquette.
Attitude - Demonstrates a positive attitude; appears self-confident; has realistic expectations of self.
Productivity - Follows safety practices; conserves materials; keeps work area neat and clean; follow directions/procedures.
Organizational Skills - Manifests in personal management, time management, prioritizing, flexibility, stress management, and dealing with change.
Communication - Displays appropriate nonverbal and verbal skills.
Cooperation - Displays leadership skills; appropriately handles criticism and complaints; demonstrates problem-solving capability; maintains appropriate relationships with supervisors and peers; follows chain of command.
Respect - Deals appropriately with cultural/racial diversity; does not engage in harassment of any kind.
Work Ethics Modules - You are to read over each of these modules. After reading each of them, you are to write a short summary of each and answer any questions given.
