1. You should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and/or HOPE Scholarship/Grant application (GSFAPPS). The FAFSA may be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, and the GSFAPPS may be completed online at www.gacollege411.org. The Financial Aid staff is available to assist students in completion of the web application if the income documentation is provided. Income documentation includes any/all of the following which apply:
The past year’s income tax return (forms 1040EZ, 1040A, or 1040 along with W-2 forms)
Social Security award
Assistance Summary Report from TANF
Child Support payments that have been received
Worker’s compensation payments, etc.
*Note: If you are under age 24, non-veteran, unmarried, and without dependents, the income information of your parents will also be required.
2. You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the processing center.
3. Verify all pages of the SAR for accuracy, and if required, submit supporting documentation to the financial aid office. If you are selected for verification by the U.S. Department of Education, you must submit the required signed copies of federal tax returns and/or other documentation and the Federal Verification Worksheet provided by the Financial Aid office.
