Program Description
The Commercial Truck Driving Certificate program is a sequence
of courses designed to prepare students for careers in commercial
truck driving. Learning opportunities develop academic, technical,
and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition,
retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes specialized
training in the fundamentals of CTD (CTD 101), basic CTD operation
(CTD 102), advanced CTD operation (CTD 103), and a CTD internship
(CTD 104) with a company to provide the advanced training, which
focuses on developing driving skills. Each student must receive
a minimum program total of 44 hours of individual behind-the-wheel
(BTW) instructional time; at least 12 hours must be spent on
the range; and at least 12 hours must be spent on the street/road
for each student. The remaining 20 hours may be used in any
combination of range and street/road BTW time. Note: State law
requires that, whenever a vehicle is operated on public roads,
an instructor must be present in the truck while a student is
driving.

*Based on ability to benefit, (18-20) year olds may enter
the program; however, they will be limited to intrastate trucking
and licensed for GA only. Most carriers require applicants
to be 21+ years of age for insurance purposes.
Salary Range
$30,000-$35,000 for first year driver

There is a high demand for qualified drivers for over the
road, regional, dedicated, and local delivery.
Personal Traits Required
Punctual, courteous, patient, safety minded, ability to manage
stress and fatigue, and respectful, cooperative with others,
and have good organizational skills.
