Program Description
The Electronics Technology program is a sequence of courses
designed to prepare students for careers in electronics technology
professions. Program graduates receive an Electronics Technology
Diploma, which qualifies them as electronics technicians with
a specialization in biomedical instrumentation, computer electronics,
general electronics, industrial electronics, or telecommunications
electronics.
Length of Program
Eight quarters
Entrance Date
Students are accepted quarterly.
Entrance Requirements
OTC Placement Exam
Prior Completion of Electronics Fundamentals-65 hrs.
Age
16 years of age or older
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Advisor
An advisor should be consulted prior to enrolling in any course.
A program advisor will be assigned by admissions.
Salary Range
$23,273 to 34,225 Annually
Job Market
Employment potential for an Electronics Technician is very
good. According to the U.S. Department of Labor- Bureau of
Labor Statistics, the nation employment growth in the Electronics
Technology field through year 2010 is expected to exceed 15%.
Personal Traits Required
An individual pursuing a career as an Electronics technician
should be a logical individual who enjoys problem solving.
They should be meticulous and be able to follow instructions
closely. They need good technical, mathematical, and drawing
skills. Communication skills are useful, as is the ability
to conduct basic research. Electronics technicians should
have good hand-eye coordination and not be color-blind.
