Program Description
The Electronics Fundamentals program is designed to prepare students for careers in electronics professions. Learning opportunities develop academic, technical, and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes a combination of electronics theory and practical application necessary for successful employment. Program graduates receive an Electronics Fundamentals diploma, which prepares them for entry-level positions in the electronics field and qualifies them for admission to the Electronics Technology program.
Program Length
A minimum of 65 credit hours is required for graduation.
A full time student should expect to complete requirements in 5-6 quarters.
Salary Range
$21,193 to $27,985 annually
Career Opportunities
Employment potential for an Electronics Technician is very good. According to the U.S. Department of Labor- Bureau of Labor Statistics, the nation employment growth in the Electronics Technology field through year 2010 is expected to exceed 15%.
Career Traits/Requirements
An individual pursuing a career as an Electronics technician should be a logical individual who enjoys problem solving. They should be meticulous and be able to follow instructions closely. They need good technical, mathematical, and drawing skills. Communication skills are useful, as is the ability to conduct basic research. Electronics technicians should have good hand-eye coordination and not be color-blind.
