Program Description
The Automotive Fundamentals program is a sequence of courses designed to prepare students for careers in the automotive service and repair profession. The program includes electronics, mechanical and parts replacements, troubleshooting or diagnosis, automatic transmissions. Industry and safety requirements are stressed. The Automotive Technology program is an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Certified Program. This certification means that the instructor, curriculum, equipment and tools have all met ASE requirements.

Program Length
A minimum of 77 credit hours is required for graduation.
A full time student should expect to complete requirements in 4-5 quarters.  

Salary Range
$6-8 per hour Starting Salary
$12-15 per hour Future Earnings

Career Opportunities
Graduates of the Automotive Fundamentals program at Okefenokee Tech are trained to become entry-level automotive technicians employed by automotive dealerships or independent garages. With the amount of increased auto traffic, the need for trained technicians is great. Graduates who become master certified technicians have unlimited opportunities.

Career Traits/Requirements
An automotive technician must like hands on working conditions, be able to follow specific instructions well, maintain good physical condition, and be mechanically inclined.
