Automotive Collision Major Repair Assistant, Technical Certificate of Credit
Program Description
The Automotive Collision Major Repair Assistant certificate is intended to produce graduates who are prepared as Automotive Collision Major Repair Assistant. Program graduates will be competent in the following occupational areas of auto body: conventional frame repair, unibody identification and damage analysis, unibody measuring and fixturing systems, unibody straightening systems and techniques, unibody welding techniques, unibody structural panel repair and replacement, conventional body structural panel repair, unibody suspension and steering systems, and bolt-on body panel removal and replacement.
Program Length
A minimum of 27 credit hours is required for graduation.
A full time student should expect to complete requirements in 4-5 quarters.
Salary Range
$8-12 per hour
Career Opportunities
The Automotive Collision programs prepare the graduate to work in areas such as automotive repair shops or motor vehicle dealers as well as for wholesalers of motor vehicles, parts, and supplies. Some graduates may choose to operate their own automotive body shop repair business. Other options may include insurance adjusting and estimators.
Career Traits/Requirements
The student should have good mathematics and reading skills as well as computer skills based on the need to be able to follow instructions and diagrams in print and computer based manuals.
