Program Description
The Auto Body Repair Assistant certificate is intended to produce graduates who are prepared as autobody repair helpers. Program graduates will be competent in the following occupational areas of auto body: safety, components identification, hand tools and equipment identification, mechanical and electrical systems, fiberglass-plastic-rubber techniques, welding and cutting, trim and glass, damage identification and assessment, and minor collision repair.
Program Length
A minimum of 21 credit hours is required for graduation.
A full time student should expect to complete requirements in 4-5 quarters.
Salary Range
$8-12 per hour
Career Opportunities
The Automotive Collision programs prepare the graduate to work in areas such as automotive repair shops or motor vehicle dealers as well as for wholesalers of motor vehicles, parts, and supplies. Some graduates may choose to operate their own automotive body shop repair business. Other options may include insurance adjusting and estimators.
Career Traits/Requirements
The student should have good mathematics and reading skills as well as computer skills based on the need to be able to follow instructions and diagrams in print and computer based manuals.
