Program Description
Cosmetology graduates are trained to become highly qualified
cosmetologists who have opportunities for careers in various
areas of the cosmetology profession such as salon stylists,
color technicians, salon owners or managers, educators, and
distributors of professional products. Cosmetology is an exciting
and rewarding career that continues to grow annually.
Length of Program
Five quarters
Entrance Date
Students are accepted Summer and Winter Quarters.
Entrance Requirements
OTC Placement Exam
Preference is given to students who have completed general
education core.
Age
17 years of age or older
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Advisor
An advisor should be consulted prior to enrolling in any course.
A program advisor will be assigned by admissions.
Salary Range
Entry level Cosmetologist $17,000 - $20,000 annually
Established Cosmetologist $40,000 - $60,000 annually
Job Market
Three out of every four salons are looking for stylists or
nail techs. A cosmetologist license opens many doors. It’s
one of the least limiting professional licenses! For many,
it leads to international travel, work on TV or movie sets,
and involvement with stage shows.
Personal Traits Required
Must be a people person, be self-motivated, enjoy creativity,
work independently, and as with any profession, should be
willing to begin in an entry-level position. Appearance, punctuality,
professional attitude are only a few of the personal traits
required to be successful in this profession.
