Program Description
The Assistant Food Service Purchasing Agent credit certificate
is designed to provide entry-level employment skills for
basic purchasing agents in the food service field. Upon
completion of this technical certificate of credit, students
will reflect more professionalism in the field of culinary
arts, be aware of the history of food service organizations
and the career opportunities available, and be able to
implement fundamental kitchen and dining room safety, sanitation,
maintenance, and operation procedures. Students will also
understand the principles and practices necessary for food,
supply and equipment selection, procurement, receiving,
storage, and distribution, understand basic mathematical
concepts, and understand the fundamental concepts and operations
necessary to use microcomputers.
Length of Program
Length of program varies with the student’s ability
to schedule classes.
Entrance Date
New classes begin each quarter if adequate enrollment exists.

Age
16 years of age or older
Education
High school diploma or GED is not required
Advisor
An advisor should be consulted prior to enrolling in any
course. A program advisor will be assigned by admissions.
Additional Requirements
Salary Range
$16,500 -- $27,000
