Program Description
The Radiologic Technology program provides educational opportunities
to individuals that will enable them to obtain the knowledge,
skills, and attitudes necessary to succeed as radiographers.
Upon completion of the Radiologic Technology program, graduates
are eligible to sit for a national certification examination
and are prepared to function as professionals in the radiography
profession.
Radiologic Technology Mission Statement
The mission of the Okefenokee Technical College Radiologic Technology Program is to provide radiologic technology training to meet the needs of the radiologic technology providers and the citizens of the Okefenokee Technical College service area. This mission will be accomplished by
- Providing classroom and clinical learning opportunities that develop academic, technical, and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement for successful employment as an entry-level technologist and prepare students to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists’ national certification examination.
- Working with radiologic technology providers to ensure that the program content is current and to graduate adequate numbers of students to meet the needs of the radiology providers in the Okefenokee Technical College area.
- Providing the foundation for continued education in areas of advanced imaging such as sonography, mammography, etc. through clinical experiences and career-related instruction.

Okefenokee Technical College’s Radiologic Technology Program will be recognized as a provider of skillfully trained and well educated technologists who are prepared to begin their chosen career.

Length of Program
Eight Quarters
Entrance Date
Radiologic Technology program sequence begins summer quarter.
Academic advisor will schedule general core and prerequisite
courses quarterly.
Entrance Requirements
OTC Placement Exam
Applicants must complete general core requirements and contact
the Program Director upon completion.
Age
18 years of age or older
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Advisor
An advisor should be consulted prior to enrolling in any course.
A program advisor will be assigned by admissions.
Additional Requirements
Criminal Background Check, PSB Health Occupations Aptitude
Exam, Physical Exam, Eye Exam, TB Skin Test, Hepatitis B Vaccination,
Immunization Record, Selection Interview.
Salary Range
$28,000-$34,000 annually
Job Market
The nation is currently facing critical workforce shortages
in all areas of hospital operations, clinical (nurses, radiologic
technologists and pharmacists).
Personal Traits
Strong emphasis in sciences and math, ability to interact
with patients and other allied health professionals, ability
to operate and manipulate computerized equipment and machinery,
ability to stand on feet for long periods of time, ability
to lift 30 pounds, problem solving and critical thinking skills,
emotional stability, ability to work in stressful environment
and under direct supervision, caring, and compassionate.
