Students may begin core courses any quarter.
Formal admission to the Medical Assisting program begins each *Winter quarter.

Program selection is limited to 15 students. Applicants in each of the following groups will be ranked by application date for program selection. Selection will begin in the first group; each subsequent group will be considered in selection process until selection limit is reached.
- Students who have completed all core classes.
- Students who have completed all core classes except BUS 101.
- In order for a student to be eligible, all core courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher.
- Transfer courses will be averaged at the grade received from the transfer institution.
- Exempted courses will be assigned a grade based on the score of the exemption exam.
*To improve student success in the program, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that students complete AHS 109 – Medical Terminology in addition to the medical assisting core. (*This course will become a medical assisting core requirement beginning with the Winter 2011 class.)
Program Requirements
Health Packet: Physical and eye exam. Student must show proof of MMR, DPT, PPD, and Hepatitis B vaccinations or a sign a declination form.
Clinical Facilities will perform a criminal background check and drug screen before allowing any student to enter the clinical assignment.
All selections are reviewed and approved for compliance to these criteria by the Vice President for Student Affairs. |
