Program Description
The purpose of this certificate is to prepare graduates to
enter the workforce in the role of an effective, efficient
central service employee. Graduates also have the option to
complete a certification examination with the International
Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management
(IAHCSMM) after working for a period to complete required
competencies.
Length of Program
Length of program varies with the student’s ability
to schedule classes.
Entrance Date
Students are accepted quarterly.

17 years of age or older
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Advisor
An advisor should be consulted prior to enrolling in any course.
A program advisor will be assigned by admissions.
Salary Range
$10,000-13,000 annually
Job Market
The job market for all health care related fields is predicted
to remain strong through 2010. The Department of Labor estimates
a projected increase of 25% in the number of health related
jobs during this time period.
Personal Traits Required
Ability to interact with other health care professionals,
ability to stand on one’s feet and in one position for
extended periods of time, ability to lift 30 pounds, emotional
stability and a strong sense of responsibility, manual dexterity
and fine motor coordination, and the ability to concentrate
for long periods while staying on task.
