Student Selection Criteria
All practical nursing core classes must be completed prior to enrollment into the Practical Nursing program. The eight (8) required nursing core classes are:

Program selection is limited to 20 students for the Waycross evening class and the Alma class. Program selection is limited to 25 students for the Waycross day class.
Applicants in each of the following groups will be ranked by application date for program selection. Selection will begin in the first group each subsequent group will be considered in selection process until selection limit is reached.
- Students who have completed all core classes with a minimum GPA of 3.0 at least one quarter prior to the program start date
- Students who have completed all core classes with a minimum GPA of 3.0 by the end of the quarter immediately preceding the program start date
- In order for a student to be eligible, all core courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher.
- If any core course is repeated, the highest grade earned will be used to calculate the GPA.
- Transfer courses will be averaged at the grade received from the transfer institution.
- Exempted courses will be assigned a grade based on the score of the exemption exam.
- Practical nurse grouping includes practical nursing or nurse technician. Should a student start off with practical nursing or nurse technician as his/her choice of degree, change that choice to a different program grouping, and then change it back to practical nursing or nurse technician, the most recent date of change will be honored.
Program Requirements
Health Packet: Physical exam and eye exam. Students must show proof of MMR, DPT, PPD, and Hepatitis B vaccinations or sign a declination form, and American Heart Association CPR card.
Clinical Facilities will perform a criminal background check and drug screen before allowing any student to enter the clinical assignment.
All selections are reviewed and approved for compliance to these criteria by the Vice President for Student Affairs.
