Program Description
Medical Transcription provides a structured sequence of credit
courses that will prepare an individual to be employed as
a medical transcriptionist, or to increase an individual’s
proficiency on the job. Health insurance and related regulations
of the health care industry promote the need for personnel
skilled in medical transcribing.
Length of Program
Length of program varies with the student’s ability
to schedule classes.
Entrance Date
Students are accepted quarterly.

High School Diploma or GED
Advisor
An advisor should be consulted prior to enrolling in any course.
A program advisor will be assigned by admissions.
Salary Range
Once experience is gained, completers can expect an hourly
wage of $8.50-$14.00, depending on experience.
Job Market
The job market for a person holding a Medical Transcription
TCC is good. However, most doctors and medical facilities
require some experience in medical transcription before offering
a person a permanent job in transcription or a contract for
transcription services.
Personal Traits Required
A person pursuing the Medical Transcription TCC should enjoy
working unaccompanied, enjoy typing and producing business
documents, be a fast and accurate typist, have a good knowledge
of the English language and grammar rules, have excellent
listening skills, have a customer service attitude, have the
ability to multi-task, have an ability to handle stress, and
have a strong work ethic.
