Computer Information Systems - Microcomputer Specialist, A.A.S.

Program Description
Graduates of the Computer Information Systems are trained to become highly qualified Microcomputer Specialists capable of serving the computer needs of business and industry. Entry-level positions include technical support, help desk, PC repair, network support, network manager, network administrator, and software specialist.

Length of Program
6 quarters

Entrance Date
Students are accepted quarterly.

Entrance Requirements
OTC Placement Exam

Age
16 years of age or older

Education
High School Diploma or GED

Advisor
An advisor should be consulted prior to enrolling in any course. A program advisor will be assigned by admissions.

Salary Range
Salary Range $20,000 to $25,000 annually.

Job Market
Graduates are eligible for employment for the areas of help desk, PC repair technician, software specialist, and technical support specialist.

Personal Traits Required
A person pursuing a Microcomputer Specialist Degree should show initiative, be willing to continue education as technology advances, be interested in computer application software, be organized, have the ability to multi-task, display a professional appearance, possess a strong work ethic, and have a desire to work in the office environment.
