Program Description
The Business Office Technology program is designed to prepare
students for employment in a variety of positions in today's
automated offices. Additionally, the program provides opportunities
to upgrade present knowledge and skills or to retrain in the
area of Business Office Technology.
Length of Program
Four quarters
Entrance Date
Students are accepted quarterly.
Entrance Requirements
OTC Placement Exam
Age
16 years of age or older
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Advisor
An advisor should be consulted prior to enrolling in any course.
A program advisor will be assigned by admissions.
Salary Range
Salary Range $13,520 to $23,960 annually, depending on experience
and time on job.
This salary range is an average and has been higher for many
graduates.
Job Market
The job market for the Business Office Technology diploma
graduate is very good. Examples of jobs that are available
are administrative assistant (secretary), medical office assistant,
legal office assistant, receptionist, human resource assistant,
customer service representative, accounts payable/receivable
assistant, bookkeeper, and general office assistant.
Personal Traits Required
A person pursuing a Business Office Technology diploma should
be a people-person, show initiative, enjoy working with documents
and computer application software, have the ability to multi-task,
be a strong typist, display a professional appearance, have
a customer service attitude, and have a desire to work in
the office environment.
The schedule listed below is only an example of the courses
students should take each quarter, if beginning in the fall
or spring. Students who begin classes in the winter or summer,
or students who are unable to be full-time, may require more
than four quarters to complete the program.
