Program Description
Certifications are becoming the standard for many jobs within
the information technology (IT) industry. Even degreed professionals
may be required to also hold a professional certification
as a term of employment. Many companies have CompTIA A+ certification
as a minimum requirement for their IT employees. Students
completing this certificate program will be qualified for
employment in various IT positions relating to PC technical
support and installation.
Length of Program
Length of program is typically nine months but varies with
student’s ability to schedule classes.
Entrance Date
Students are accepted quarterly.

is very good. According to the U.S. Department of Labor- Bureau
of Labor Statistics, the national employment growth in the
computer repair industry through year 2010 is expected to
exceed 22%.
Personal Traits Required
Individuals seeking a CompTIA A+ certification and employment
in the personal computer tech support industry should be logical
individuals who enjoy problem solving. They should be meticulous
and be able to follow instructions closely. They need good
technical and mathematical skills. Communication skills are
useful, as is the ability to conduct basic research. PC Technician
should also have good hand-eye coordination and be able to
work in many different environments.
